APPLEGATE: John W. Carlson, age 76, of Applegate, passed away quietly on Monday, July 23, 2012 surrounded by his family.

John was born October 2, 1935 in Macomb County, to the late Eugene and Irene (Newcome) Carlson. He and Marjorie S. Wilemski married on February 4, 1961 in Warren. She preceded him in death January 15, 2009 after 48 years of marriage.

He was a veteran of the United States Air Force.

He is survived by four children: Kimberly (Kevin) Cunningham, John (Rita) Carlson, Karen Wood, and Kathy (Jeremy) McNayr; nine grandchildren, Stacy (Sean) Murray, Stephanie (Ryan) Helmold, Joshua, Eugene, John (Carey) and Cody Carlson, Eric Wood, Nick and Samantha Marr; and seven great-grandchildren.

Cremation has taken place, with a private family memorial to be held at a later date.
