Charles R. Ellis

LEXINGTON- Charles R. Ellis, age 79, beloved husband of more than 60 years went Home to His Heavenly Father on Thursday, May 14, 2015 at the McLaren Port Huron Hospital after an extended illness of over 9 years. He was born on November 24, 1935 in Jeddo, son of the late Herbert and Zannie (Nunn) Ellis. Charlie married Juanita Vroman on June 26, 1954 in Jackson, Michigan Charlie retired from Southeastern Michigan Gas Company after 35 years of service. He was a life member of the Croswell F & AM #469, Knights Templar Commandery #27, Croswell O.E.S. #236, Lexington Lions, and the Lexington United Methodist Church. Charlie loved camping and traveling through the years. Upon retirement he and his wife spent winters in Polk City, Florida creating new friendships and attending the Detroit Tiger Spring Training Games in Lakeland, Florida. He always wanted to see Comerica Park and the family had purchased tickets for the June 28th game to fulfill his dream. The family will honor that dream and he will be there with us in spirit to cheer the Tigers on to a Win! Charlie was an exceptional husband, dad, and Papa! He cherished his grandchildren and precious great-granchildren. He is survived by his loving wife Juanita of Lexington, a son Mark (Mary) of Powell, Tennesse, daughters Cynthia (Kim) Nunn of Croswell and Diane (Chuck) Lobbestael of New Baltimore, a sister Marie (Elmer) Campbell of Yale, 2 sister-in-laws Phyllis Ellis and Marilyn Ellis; 7 grandchildren Andrea (Wally) Mencavage, Brandon (Kristina) Nunn, Amanda and Rebecca Ellis, Andrew, Abigail and Alexandra Lobbestael; 3 precious great grandchildren Clare & Blake Nunn and Haydn Mencavage. Numerous nieces and nephews, a "special nephews/son" Greg Cichy. Charlie was preceded in death by 6 brothers Tom, Lee, Ron, Robert, Herbert Jr., and Howard and a sister Ethel. The family honors the memory of Charlie and invites you to visit and share memories on Monday from 2-9 P.M. at the Pomeroy Funeral Home in Lexington. Funeral Services will be held at 11 A.M. on Tuesday, May 20th at the funeral home, with visitation from 10-11. Rev. Maureen Baker and Rev. Betty Blair will officiate. Interment will follow in the Lexington Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Lexington United Methodist Church.
