Donald Robert Parker

CROSWELL- Donald Robert Parker, 64, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, December 8, 2016. He died at Beaumont Hospital. Mr. Parker was born October 1, 1952 in Sandusky, Michigan. He was the son of James and Betty (Brackenbury) Parker. He lived in Croswell all of his life. He graduated in 1971 from Croswell-Lexington High School. He was married to the former Darlene Kay Odoerfer at the Community Baptist Church on October 6, 1973 by Rev. Milton Endean. Mr. Parker was a member of Grace Life Baptist Church in Clyde, Michigan. His first few years of marriage, he worked at Mueller Brass and Fraser Manufacturing. Don worked at GM Truck and Bus for 31 years. Don’s last job at Truck and Bus was inspecting the Silverado pick-ups on the shake, rattle and roll until the plant shut down. He enjoyed working with kids of all ages in Awana, Good News Club, Junior Church and the Teen Youth Group. Don loved hunting and target shooting. He also took joy in each one of his grandchildren. Mr. Parker is survived by his wife Darlene Parker of Croswell; daughter Deana (Keith) Crumrine of Silverwood, Michigan; son Douglas Earl (Patti) Parker of Greenville, South Carolina; son David James Parker (fiancee Sarah Smith) of Croswell. Grandchildren include Colin, Ashelyn, Emily and Hudson Crumrine, Reilly and Reese Whims (Parker), Sarrah and Abbigale Parker, Audrey and Carolina Smith; his mother in law Zelpha Odoerfer of Croswell; brother in law Duane Earl (Brenda) Odoerfer of Croswell, sister in laws Sharlene Odoerfer of Croswell and Marcia (Roger) Bowerson of Indiana. Mr. Parker was preceded in death by his parents the late Jim and Betty Parker as well as his brother , Tom Parker. “Faithful Husband, Caring Father, Grandpa and Friend”. He will be greatly missed. Visitation will be from 2-9 P.M. Monday at the Pomeroy Funeral Home in Croswell. Funeral services will be held at 11 A.M. on Tuesday at the Croswell Community Baptist Church, with visiting at the church from 10-11. Pastor Matthew McPhillips and Pastor Steve Kovacs will officiate. Interment will follow in the Croswell Cemetery. Pallbearers are grandson Colin Crumrine, cousins Mark, Steve, Dan and Tyler Maxfield. Honorary pallbearers are grandchildren Ashelyn, Emily and Hudson Crumrine, Sarrah and Abbigale Parker, Audrey and Carolina Smith.
