Douglas Kent Bricker

CROSWELL- Douglas “Doug” Kent Bricker, 88, a proud life-long resident of Croswell, MI, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, August 23, 2026. He was born on January 22, 1938, in Detroit, Michigan, to the late Harvey & Dorothy Bricker. Doug graduated from Croswell-Lexington High School in 1956. A star player for the Cros-Lex basketball team, he still holds the record for most points scored in a game to this date. Doug married the love of his life and high school sweetheart, Ann Burch, on August 2, 1958, in Port Huron, MI. They had just celebrated 68 years of marriage. Doug was the strong oak tree at the center of the Bricker family - steady, constant, and deeply rooted. His love for and pride in his family were apparent to anyone who heard him brag about them. He will be deeply missed and forever cherished. Doug’s tree also had strong branches, branches that extended deeply into the community of Croswell. He took over his father’s business, Bricker Motor Sales, in 1979, which he owned and operated until his retirement in 2000. Doug was a selfless man and proudly served on the Croswell Fire Department for more than 50 years, feeling honored to serve as their Assistant Chief for many of those years. During that time, he also volunteered with the local EMS as an EMT. His commitment to Croswell extended even further through his service on the Croswell City Council and numerous community boards. In each of these roles, Doug generously gave his time and leadership to the community he loved. Although he eventually “retired” from his business, the man never truly retired. Doug worked as a funeral assistant at Pomeroy Funeral Home, where he was a familiar face and source of comfort to those who walked through its doors in heavy grief. Even though his days were full of commitments, Doug’s family always came first. You could find him giving tractor rides to his grandkids, stealing a kiss from his wife in the kitchen, or talking and laughing around the kitchen table with his kids. He was the kind of man who built a legacy just by being him. Doug is survived by his loving wife, Ann Bricker; four children: Stephen (Laura) Bricker, Stephanie (Gary) Trump, Rodney (Lesa) Bricker, and Michael Bricker; eight grandchildren: Megan Catanzaro, Justin (Jess) Bricker, Tyler (Jessalyn) Trump, Cameron (Amanda) Bricker, Kaitlyn Guinn, Nate (Sabrina) Bricker, Ethan (Lydia) Bricker, and Lindsey (Angelo) Brown; twenty great-grandchildren; brother, Ron (Brenda) Bricker; sisters-in-law, Kay Gohsman and Nancy (Mark) Griffith; as well as many beloved nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Harvey Bricker; his brother-in-law, Larry Burch; and his sisters-in-law, Maureen (Gary) Young, Judy (Jesse) Tores, and Winnie (Al) Molloseau. A memorial service honoring Doug’s life will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, August 29, 2026, at The Clearing Church in Fort Gratiot, Michigan. Visitation will be held at the church from 10:00 A.M. until the time of the service. Doug’s brother-in-law, Pastor Mark Griffith, will officiate. Memorial contributions may be made to The Clearing Church or the Croswell Fire Department.
