Eugene R. Farley

Eugene Raymond Farley, a lifelong resident of Lexington, passed away on April 22, 2026 shortly after celebrating his 91st birthday. He was born on April 20, 1935, to the late Glen and Mary Farley. Eugene had a deep love for the outdoors. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and snowmobiling, and especially cherished time spent at the family cabins in Hale and at the “property” in Forester. These places held many special memories and were a backdrop to countless moments with family and friends. On September 26, 1953, Eugene married Mary Jean Garbutt. Together, they built a life rooted in love, dedication, and family, sharing 56 wonderful years of marriage. They raised four children together - Ken, Kathy, Gary, and Mark. Eugene dedicated 40 years of hard work to Mueller Brass before retiring in 1997. In retirement, he and Jean embraced the opportunity to travel, spending winters in Florida with their fifth wheel. He enjoyed the slower pace of life, whether playing cards, visiting with friends, or simply being surrounded by those he loved. Family was the center of Eugene’s life. He remained close with his five siblings throughout the years and was a constant presence at family gatherings, holidays, cabin trips, reunions, and milestones. Nothing brought him more happiness than being surrounded by his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Eugene was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Mary Jean Farley; his son, Mark Farley; his brother, Glen (Bernice) Farley; and his sisters, Catherine (Charles) Molesworth, Wilda (Frank) Marshall, Margaret Raines, and Mary Louise (Elmer) Gardner. He is lovingly remembered by his children: Ken (Dawn) Farley, Kathy (Paul) Maro, and Gary (Laurie) Farley; his brother-in-law Roy Raines; and daughter-in-law Jodi Farley. He is also survived by grandchildren: Angela (Ryan) Vallee, Nick (Stephanie) Farley, Jessica (Josh) Griggs, Trisha (Chad) Adams, Kevin (Laura) Maro, Cody (Ashley) Farley, and Emily (Jake) Hunter; as well as 16 great-grandchildren: Fayth, Ava, Ivan, Dylan, Nora, Hadley, Bennett, Elliott, Emmie, Brooks, Ella, Waylon, Axel, Quinn, Ivy, and Lainey. Eugene’s life was a testament to love, hard work, and devotion to family. He will be remembered for his steady presence, his kind heart, and the many memories he created with those who knew and loved him. His legacy lives on through the generations he helped shape, and he will be deeply missed. Funeral Services will be held 2 PM Sunday, April 26 at the Pomeroy Funeral Home in Lexington. Mr. Eric Wurmlinger will officiate. Burial will be in Croswell Cemetery. Visitation will be from 12-2 PM Sunday, prior to the service, at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Lexington U. Methodist Church.
