Francisca C. Torrez

CROSWELL: Francisca C. Torrez , 82, of Croswell, went home to the Lord on Tuesday, September 20th at McLaren Port Huron Hospital, following a brief illness. Born in Pharr, Texas on October 10, 1933, she was the daughter of Primitivo and Adela Castillo. On October 14, 1950, she married Jessie G. Torrez and became a lifelong resident of Croswell, Michigan. In her early years, Francisca worked for Aunt Jane’s Foods. She left Aunt Jane’s to become a full-time, devoted housewife, mother, caregiver, grandmother, and great grandmother. She was a devoted St. Patrick’s Church parishioner. Throughout her life, she provided those around her with endless support, love and nurturing. It is because of her caring heart that her family remained strong and supportive. She leaves behind her sister Pauline Ybarra of Pontiac and is survived by her six children: Jane (Robert) Garza, Jesse Jr. (Diane), Guadalupe Castillo Antonio (Pauline) Torrez, Theresa (Jim) MacMillan, Mary Lou, and Robert (Penny). She was a loving grandmother to 19 grandchildren : Stephanie (Bruce) Davis, Victoria (Raul) Rico, Kristy (Joe) Johnston, Robert Garza Jr. (Courtney Soule) , Jacob (Amber) Garza, Dayna Torrez, Nicole (Matt) York, Lindsay Torrez (Greg Bombard), Adam (Melissa) Garza, Cruz Torrez (Keyshla Ruff), Jesse (Ashley)Torrez III, James MacMillan (Taylor Kinter), Cody Torrez (Alexandra Zehnpfennig), Lauren Torrez (Felipe Ramirez), Alexis Torrez, Austin Torrez, Zachary Torrez, Rheana Torrez and Selena Torrez. She was also a proud great-grandmother to Bryce, Brynn, Ben and Braylon Davis, Diego and Javier Rico, Justin, Joey, Jax, and Jossalyn Johnston, Maxwell and Mason Garza, Tucker Kinnee, Ellie Harder, Leila and Gemma Garza, Sophia and Gracelynn Torrez, and Felipe and Esperanza Ramirez. She is survived by brother-in-law Joe (Lola) Torrez of Croswell and sister-in-law Estella (Henry) Morales of Flint. She was preceded in death by her parents Primitivo and Adela Castillo, brothers Cruz and Richard, and sisters Eloisa Tobias and Maria de la Luz Losoya. Pallbearers are her grandsons Robert, Jacob and Adam Garza, Jesse Torrez III, Cody and Zachary Torrez, James MacMillan, and Cruz and Austin Torrez. Francisca was our mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and she will be dearly missed. The void in our lives will be everlasting. It is with love, sadness and strength we say good-bye to this great and wonderful woman who we were very blessed to have in our lives. She has touched more lives than she will ever know, and her friends and family are better people because of the impact she had on them. Francisca will be remembered by all of her nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. We are forever grateful to the wonderful staff and caregivers at McLaren Port Huron Hospital, who not only provided medical care, but also compassion and warmth to our loved one. Funeral services will be held on Monday, September 26 at 11 AM at the St. Denis Catholic Church in Lexington. Fr. Donald Eppenbrock will officiate. Burial will take place at Mount Hope Cemetery. Visitation is Sunday, September 25 from 12 p.m.-7 p.m. at Pomeroy Funeral Home in Croswell, and 10-11 AM Monday at the church. A Rosary ceremony at 4 p.m Sunday. Luncheon will be at the American Legion in Croswell following the burial. Memorials in Francisca’s honor may be made to the family.
