Hattie Sue Priemer

SANDUSKY- Hattie ‘Sue’ Priemer, age 92, a resident of Sandusky, passed away peacefully with her son by her side on Friday, January 24, 2025, at the United Hospice Service of Aspire Health Care in Marlette. She was born on December 24, 1932, in Zanesville, Ohio, a daughter of the late Thurman and Mayme (Marsh) Adams. Sue was known for her beautiful voice and was often the star of her school choir performances. Her love for dancing was evident as she was always the last to leave the dance floor at any gathering. Before running her own day care, Hattie Sue worked diligently at Adler-Kay Cabinets, where she built cabinets with precision and care. Her dedication to her work was matched by her love for children, as she provided day care services out of her home for many years before she retired when she was 71 years old. Sue cherished her family above all else. She was a devoted mother to her five children and a loving grandmother to her 15 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and 9 great-great-grandchildren. After living in Southfield, Michigan for many years, Sue moved to Sanilac County, where she lived in several different towns and had been a resident of the Sanilac Medical Care Facility for the past four years. In retirement, Sue was a beloved Grandmother in the Foster Grandparent Program at Sandusky Elementary School, where she worked for three years, bringing joy and wisdom to the children. She loved cats, enjoyed growing tomatoes, and always had a flower garden. She is survived by her five children, Deborah (Joe) Byrne, Phillip Johnson, Connie (Cliff) Lien, Steven Hill, and Terry (Michele) Hill; 15 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and nine great-great-grandchildren, with another great-grandson on the way. Sue’s first husband was the late Robert Bruce Johnson, the father of her three eldest children, Debbie, Phillip, and Connie. Her second husband was the late Norman Hill, the father of her two youngest children, Steve and Terry. Later in life, she married the late Marvin Priemer. She was preceded in death by two sisters and brothers-in-law, Edith (Ross) Anthony and Shirley (Bill) Detamore. The family invites all who knew and loved Sue to join them in celebrating her life at the Countryside Free Methodist Church in Sandusky, MI on Friday, February 7, 2025 at 11 A.M. , visiting will be from 10-11 A.M. and a luncheon will follow the service at 12Noon. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Outpost Food Pantry at the church. There will also be a service and inurnment of ashes for family and extended family members in Ohio on a future date to be scheduled at the McComb Union Cemetery in McComb, Ohio.
