Larry R. Adams

Larry Robert Adams, 74, of Croswell, passed away on Friday, December 20, 2024 at Port Huron McLaren Hospital surrounded by family. He was born April 3, 1950 in Croswell to the late Robert and Katherine (Schott) Adams. Larry and Marcia A. (Dawson) Adams were married July 3, 1970 in Lexington. Larry served our country in the United States Army from 1969-1972, spending one year in Vietnam with the 59th Combat Engineers Unit (Bushwhackers). After the military, he continued working as a heavy equipment operator, first for Bill Cliff and then over 30 years in the Operating Engineers 324. Larry had the keys to nearly every make and model of heavy equipment built, and was known to test them on machines left unattended. Larry loved spending time with family. He enjoyed years of bowling and playing pool with friends. He absolutely loved the outdoors. Countless hours were spent on the water fishing or in the woods hunting (and he even tried cliff diving once). These were passions he passed on to his children and grandchildren. Larry is survived by his wife, Marcia, and their three children, Tonia (Jeff) Butler, Christine Adams, and Anthony "Buck" (Rebecca) Adams. Eight grandchildren, Candice (Austin) Hulett, Devin Adams, Emily Butler, Hailey (Steve) Tuohey, Lily Hudspeth, Brooklyn Butler, Ashley Villareal, and Conner Adams. Four great-grandchildren, Quinton, Ayla, and Edith Tuohey, and Maggie Hulett. He is also survived by four brothers, Donald (Judy), Rodney (Lisa), Charles (Sandra), and Dennis Adams; two sisters, Linda (Tom) Vilas, and Denise (Michael) Gutierrez; brother-in-law Gerald Dawson; and many nephews and nieces. Larry was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Katherine Adams; father and mother-in-law, Walter and Alice Dawson; sister-in-laws Grace Dawson, Lois Adams, and Carol Dawson. Funeral services will be held at 11am Friday, December 27 at the Croswell Wesleyan Church. Pastor Phil Count will officiate. Visitation will be held 2pm-8pm Thursday, December 26, and 10am-11am Friday, December 27 at the Croswell Wesleyan Church. Military honors will be conducted by the Croswell American Legion Post #255. Memorials may be made to the Croswell Wesleyan Church or charity of the donor's choice.
