Nina A. Piwko

With deep love and heartfelt remembrance, we announce the passing of Nina A. Piwko, 78, of Canton and Lexington, Michigan. She departed peacefully on May 28, 2025, at home, surrounded by the love of her family. Born in Detroit on November 1, 1946, to the late Peter and Frances (Corso) Tosto, Nina grew up with a strong sense of family, resilience and faith- values she carried throughout her life. On May 29, 1965, she married the love of her life, Richard G. Piwko and together they built a life filled with hard work, devotion and unwavering love. They shared 56 beautiful years of marriage until Richard’s passing in 2021. Nina and Richard co-owned and operated All-American Cash Register, where their partnership extended beyond their marriage and into their business, built on trust, determination and a strong work ethic. But beyond her professional life, Nina’s greatest joy was in the roles of wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She had a generous spirit and warm heart, always putting others before herself. An avid reader with a curious mind, Nina also enjoyed crocheting intricate patterns, baking homemade treats for family and friends and traveling to new places that fed her soul. Of all the places she explored, her heart always found peace at the beaches in Daytona and Lexington, where she cherished moments with her loved ones and created memories that will be held dear forever. Nina is survived by her devoted children, Ronald Piwko, Craig (Krista) Piwko and Michelle (Jason) Dushary; her treasured grandchildren, Anastasia and Emily Piwko and Katlyn, Anthony and Madilyn Dushary; and her beloved sister, Jeannine Zadrowski. She is now reunited in eternal peace with her husband, Richard, her son, Richard A. Piwko and her brother, Peter Tosto. Nina’s life was a testament to kindness, strength and enduring love. Her legacy lives on in the hearts of all who knew her, and her memory will continue to guide and inspire her family every day. Visitation will be from 3-8 P.M. on Sunday and 5-8 P. M. on Monday at the Pomeroy Funeral Home in Lexington. Funeral Mass will be held at 11 A.M. on Tuesday at the Ave Maria Parish-St. Denis Catholic Church in Lexington, with visiting at the church form 10-11 A.M., Fr. Bala Madanu will officiate. Interment will follow in the St. Denis Catholic Cemetery.
