Barbara Ellen Collins Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

LEXINGTON- Barbara Ellen Collins, age 89, a resident of Lake Orion and formerly of Lexington passed away on Tuesday, June 28, 2022 at Pomeroy Living in Lake Orion. She was born on September 10, 1932 in Detroit, a daughter of the late Michael and Barbara (Boyle) Ward. Barbara married Timothy J. Collins on October 25, 1958 at the Precious Blood Catholic Church in Detroit. The couple shared fifty wonderful years of marriage until his death on July 31, 2008. Barbara was the President of the Detroit Catholic Central Mothers Club, Cub Scout Den Mother and Director of Cheerleading for Livonia Athletics. She was an active member of the St. Denis Catholic Church in Lexington for many years and was a member of the Altar Society. Barbara was fiercely loyal to her family, her friends, her community and her church. Small in stature, but a mighty force of kindness in our world. In her world there were truly no strangers. People she didn’t know from all walks of life, were only friends waiting to be made. She is survived by her children, Timothy Collins IV, Michele (Ernie) Babon, Jim (Patty) Collins and Dennis (Kris) Collins; and by her grandchildren, Becky (Billy) Neuson, Keegan (Casey), Ernie Babon, Nicole, Rachel, Michaela, Amy Babon, Erin and Sean. She was preceded in death by her brothers, James and Patrick Ward. Visitation will be from 3-8 P.M. on Thursday at the Pomeroy Funeral Home in Lexington. Funeral Mass will be held at 2 P.M. on Friday at the Ave Maria Parish-St. Denis Catholic Church in Lexington with visiting at the church from 1- 2 P.M. on Friday. Fr. Donald J. Eppenbrock will officiate. Interment will follow in the St. Denis Catholic Cemetery. Memorials in memory of Barbara may be made to the St. Denis Catholic Church.
