Charles K. Ashwell

CARSONVILLE- Charles Kenneth Ashwell, age 77, a resident of Carsonville, passed away on Wednesday, June 3, 2020 at his home, after a courageous three and half year battle with cancer. He was born July 3, 1942 in Detroit, son of the late Percy and Inez (Gevedon) Ashwell. Charles married Barbara K. Staszkiewicz on June 7, 1974 in Allen Park. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. Charles was a member of the Ave Maria Parish- St. Marys Catholic Church in Port Sanilac and also a member of the Croswell American Legion in Croswell. Charles is survived by his wife, Barbara; 4 sons, Charles K. Ashwell II, Joel (Kay) Porter, Thomas Ashwell, and Paul Ashwell; 2 daughters, Dawn (Marty) Copp, and Laurie Gonzalez; 13 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren; and 2 sisters, Jeanne Sehnert, and Linda (Doug) Winslow. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Rudolph Wheeler, and William and George Ashwell, and sister, Judy Briggs. Vistiation will be from 1-7 P.M. on Sunday at the Pomeroy Funeral Home in Lexington. Funeral Mass will be held at 11 A.M. on Monday at Ave Maria Parish- St. Denis Catholic Church in Leixngton, with visiting at the church from 10- 11 A.M. Fr. Donald J. Eppenbrock will officiate. Interment with military rites provided by the Croswell American Legion will follow in the Washington Cemetery in Carsonville.
