Mary Hartman

June 9, 1931 - August 5, 2019

LEXINGTON- Mary Hartman, age 88, a resident of Lexington passed away on Monday, August 5, 2019 at the United Hospice Residence in Marlette. She was born on June 9, 1931 in Detroit, Michigan, a daughter of the late Matthew and Emma (Jergens) Schneider. Mary married James E. Hartman on April 7, 1951 in Mt. Clemens. Mary, with her husband Jim owned and operated Schneider’s Cleaner’s and Tailoring in Mt. Clemens, where Mary served as bookkeeper for over 31 years. Mary’s passion was living anywhere near water. Her favorite home was on the St. Clair River, where she enjoyed watching the freighters and boats go by. Mary’s other passions included spending time with family, gardening, puzzles, and playing euchre. Mary is survived by her husband, James E. Hartman of Lexington; her five children, Linda (Mike) Burylo of China Township, James Hartman of St. Clair, David (Debbie) Hartman of Durham, North Carolina, Patricia Hartman of St. Clair and Valerie (Jason) Kowal of Lexington; seven grandchildren, Sara Hartman, Stephanie (Mike) Edwards, Jeremy (Emily) Hartman, Luke (Sarah) Hartman, Joshua Kowal, Justin Kowal and Jake Kowal; 4 great grandchildren, Weston Hartman, Luna Hartman, Isabelle Edwards and Judah Edwards; a brother Matthew (Betsy) Schneider of Florida. A memorial service will be held on Sunday, August 18, 2019 at 4 P.M. at the Croswell Wesleyan Church. Visitation will be 2-4 P.M. prior to the service. Pastor Phil Count will officiate. A dinner will be served at 5:30 P.M., following the service. Memorials may be made to the United Hospice.
