Robert E. Finnegan
July 23, 1940 - February 5, 2021
Bob Finnegan of Croswell, Michigan passed away on February 5 at the Ann Arbor Veterans Administration Hospital after complications following heart valve replacement. Bob was loved by everyone he met, and he will be greatly missed by his family and the many friends he made during his 80 years of life. Bob spent his youth in Michigan, where his sister Dorothy lives, and in rural Pennsylvania, where he still has family. He joined the Marines to serve his country right out of high school. Never shying away from a challenge, Bob was a self-taught man able to overhaul cars, replace home wiring, tackle plumbing jobs, and do construction, all with equal prowess. He and his wife, Gloria, and their daughters, Cindy and Diana, lived in Dearborn, Michigan, where he was an active Union Member for over 34 years at Detroit Diesel. Bob and Gloria then retired to Croswell where he was a member of the Croswell American Legion and Croswell Eagles. While in Croswell, he planted over 100 trees on their property, put in a pond, and befriended numerous stray kittens who took up residence in his barn. The farm holds longtime, cherished memories for his grandchildren Kevin, Emmeline, and Indigo. He will be remembered fondly for his sense of humor, his story telling, and his love for his family and his friends. In light of Covid-19, a memorial service may be planned later this spring or summer. If you would like to make a donation in his memory, please do so at the Croswell American Legion or the Croswell Eagles.
