Arthur Dale Stank

LEXINGTON- Arthur Dale Stank was born April 30, 1934 to Ewald and Louise Stank. He was the youngest of four children; Ewald Jr, Gordon, and Shirley (George) Watt, all of whom preceded Arthur in death. Arthur was baptized in infancy and later confirmed at Our Saviour Lutheran Church of Detroit, Michigan. He attended Macomb Elementary, Denby High and Wayne State University earning a Master of Education Degree (MEd). After completing a three year enlistment with the Third Battalion Seventh Marines (one year in Korea) Arthur joined the Detroit Police Department. At the completion of 26 years service he retired at the rank of sergeant and was the officer in charge of computer operations. Subsequently he joined the faculty at St. Clair County Community College as an instructor, from which he retired after 10 years. In 1958 Arthur married Eunice Verna Martha Peetsch. The union lasted in excess of 61 years until after a long and painful illness the Lord called Eunice home. The marriage produced three children: Selise (James) Carden, Paul, and Todd (Lori) Stank; seven grand children: Jeremiah (Tiffany) Carden, Jessica (Craig) Hilliker, Joel (Letitta) Carden, Jacob (Brittany) Stank, Matthew Stank, Cassey (Evan) D’Angelo, Dylan (Deanna) Stank; followed by numerous great-grandchildren: Kolton, Carden, Peyton, Keegan Rose, Madison, Caisen, Calla, Wyatt, Ryan, Logan, Vincent, Cadlee, and Cadence. Arthur was an active member of his church, holding various offices, choir, leading hymn sings as well as singing in the Port Sanilac Choral Club for many years. His hobbies included traveling, raising and showing Afghan Hounds, motorcycle, pilot, and a corvette over the years. He and Euny enjoyed many years of retirement residing between their golf course winter home in Sun City, AZ and their summer place overlooking Lake Huron in Lexington Michigan. Art’s favorite bible verse was the one assigned to him at conformation by Pastor E.H. Buchheimer which he was required to recite before the congregation: 1 Peter 5:8 “Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour.” Visitation will be from 3-7 P.M. on Tuesday at the Pomeroy Funeral Home in Lexington. Funeral service will be held at 11 A.M. on Wednesday at St. Matthew Lutheran Church in Lexington, with visiting at the church from 10- 11 A.M. Wednesday morning. Pastor Christopher Jung will officiate. Military Honors will immediately follow the church service and will be provided by the Croswell American Legion. Interment will be in the Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly.
