Judith Sarah “Judi” Nowicki, born September 20, 1941, passed away on April 15, 2026, leaving behind a family who will forever carry her laughter, her strength, and her unmistakable spark. Judi was equal parts sassy and deeply kind with a touch of outlaw. Though she stood under five feet tall, she loved loudly and fully and was always a good time. She spoke softly, but her humor was sharp and perfectly timed-full of subtle one-liners that not everyone caught, but those who did felt like they had been let in on something special. She had a quiet presence paired with a strong will. She was headstrong in the best way-guided by her own convictions, and more often than not, she was right. Born Judith Sarah Johnson, she grew up as a protective older sister, a role that shaped much of who she became. Judi shared a lifelong and deeply meaningful bond with her twin, June-a connection that was one of the most significant relationships in her life. She was also a sister to Julia, Richard, and Renee. Judi carried the loss of her siblings, especially her twin June, with her always. She had a love for stories, often found reading romance novels, and she carried that same sense of devotion and feeling into her own life. She loved music that spoke to the soul, especially Tom Petty, Creedence Clearwater Revival, and Eagles, with Desperado holding a special place in her heart. More recently, she enjoyed the music of Jelly Roll. Her favorite color was mauve- soft, warm, and reflective of her gentler side. Judi had a gift for making people feel loved, often through the handwritten cards she was known for. Her handwriting was small, neat, and almost regimented, each word carefully chosen and deeply felt. Above all, Judi lived for her family and her faith. She loved her people with her whole heart-fully, fiercely, and without hesitation. She was a devoted mother to her three sons, Ralph Nowicki, Paul Nowicki, and Michael Nowicki, who meant everything to her. She was a proud grandmother to many grandchildren and had the joy of having great-grandchildren as well, leaving behind a legacy that will continue through generations. Judi was preceded in death by her beloved partner, Henry Nowicki, her sisters, Mable Gilepsi, June Wahlers, Julia Mendoza, Rene Johnson, and brothers, Robert Tilly, and Joe Tilley. She is survived by her younger brother, Richard, along with her sons, grandchildren, and extended family who will carry her memory forward. Those who knew Judi will remember her not just for her kindness, but for her spirit-her quiet strength, her humor, and her ability to turn even small moments into something lasting. One family story captures her perfectly: after a young relative once whispered something mischievous to her, she chose not to scold, but instead turned it into a playful, ongoing inside joke- meeting him with the same whispered words during hugs. It was her way: meeting life with humor, connection, and just a touch of rebellion. Judi’s life was built not on grand gestures, but on love, loyalty, laughter, and the deep, steady presence she gave to those around her.
