Paul E. Moyer

Paul E. Moyer, 74, of Findlay, Ohio, passed in the late evening hours of Friday, June 12, 2026, at StoryPoint Findlay. Paul was born on March 8, 1952, to the late Rev. Emery A. & Louella M. (Shaw) Moyer in Kankakee, IL. After earning his MBA, Paul began a career in banking at the McComb Bank. He soon fell in love with Findlay and found the call to open his own business there, Moyer Financial Services. Partnering with New York Life, Paul served his community as a Certified Financial Planner, Chartered Life Underwriter, Chartered Financial Consultant, Charted Advisor for Senior Living, and an Accredited Estate Planner for over 20 years. In 2020, Paul retired. Paul met his future wife, Cathy, and they spent 10 wonderful years of marriage together. Despite Paul's love for OSU (Cathy, having grown up in Michigan, is a die-hard Wolverines fan), the two hit it off. Together, they enjoyed traveling, especially visiting both sides of their extended families. Paul loved his family deeply, especially his grandchildren, daughters and their families, and he opened his heart wide to include Cathy's family as well. Paul is survived by his wife, Cathy (Helhowski) Moyer; children, Kate (Nate) Kear, Elizabeth (Levi) Stombaugh, Julie (Sam) McCullough, Laura (Peter) Bruno, and Heather (Shannon) Jones; grandchildren, Brennan & Adilyn Kear, Sawyer & Henley Stombaugh, Charlotte & William McCullough, Adelina, Nicholas & Danica Bruno, and Claire & Quinn Jones; siblings, Vickie Moyer, Dean (Yvonne) Moyer, Steve (Debbie) Moyer, and Ruthie (Mary McCarthy) Moyer; and in-laws, Janetta (Dave) Bowman and Theresa (Robert) Dudek. Paul was a huge OSU Football fan, but he also enjoyed trips to Notre Dame Football games with his friend, Tom Drake. An avid golfer, Paul appreciated his time at the Findlay Country Club, where he and Cathy enjoyed fireworks, dinner, and especially the New Year's Eve celebrations. Paul was a sitting member of the Blanchard Valley Hospital Board and in the Rotary Club. He was passionate about motorcycles, especially his Harley-Davidson bikes, as well as his BMW. But the bikes could never compete with his love of his dog Thor, a Doberman he doted upon. His family particularly remember Paul's beautiful singing voice. He and his brothers, along with his father, shared their gift at church and other times they were called to sing, while their sister Vickie played the organ. Paul built his life on a strong Christian foundation, and his faith reflected in the dedication he showed to his family, his business, and his community. A graveside service will be held at 2 P.M. on Thursday, June 18, 2026 at the Lexington Municipal Cemetery on Dennisen St. in Lexington. Rev. Jeri Hamlin of the Lexington United Methodist Church will officate. Memorial contributions may be made in Paul's name to the Alzheimer's Association and/or to his wife Cathy.
